Opera In The Classroom

Find Your Voice!

Opera Zoom!

Beginning Fall 2014, Arizona Opera will be working with schools to create programs specifically tailored to the needs of students. By skyping into the Arizona Opera Center, students across the entire state will be able to experience opera while supplementing classroom learning.

Original Opera

Arizona Opera’s Teaching Artists partner with local schools to help students create their own, original opera. By using the program Music! Words! Opera!, students explore the structure of storytelling while discovering their own creative voice.

Arizona Opera offers high school and college level internships to qualified students. In exchange for class credit, students learn by working in areas of production, administration, education, development, or marketing. These programs offer students in high school and college the opportunity to receive real-world experience while learning what a career in the arts is all about.

Opera Materials

Prepare your students for a performance with study guides specifically designed to help students appreciate, analyze, and evaluate their operatic experiences. Utilize our opera language arts curriculum, which combines reader’s theater and opera to help improve reading fluency and foster creativity. Or, introduce students to opera with one of our entertaining webisodes and podcasts (beginning Fall 2014).

Opera Seminars

Beginning fall 2014, Arizona Opera will offer seminars for teachers. Learn how to use opera in your classroom to enhance language arts and fine arts instruction while getting continuing education credit. Don’t miss out on the great resources Arizona Opera offers to help students learn about opera and find their creative voices. Registration is required.
