Together, Taylor and Riesenberg bring over three decades of stellar administrative and artistic experience to Arizona Opera

Phoenix, AZ (Feb. 17, 2012) — Arizona Opera is pleased to announce that Ryan Taylor is its new Director of Artistic Administration andMindy Riesenberg new Director of Marketing and External Affairs.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have Ryan and Mindy onboard,” said Scott Altman, General Director.  “They’re both consummate professionals who will help strengthen our organization as we enter an exciting new chapter in our Company’s history.”

Taylor joins Arizona Opera from Wolf Trap Opera Company in Vienna, Virginia where for three years he served as Manager of Community Development.  During his tenure, he created the Vocal Colors recital series in partnership with The Phillips Collection, as well as foundedBehind the Curtain: Family Day at the OperaBackstage Buzz-moderated artist panels and ROSTER magazine. Furthermore, in his other capacity as an artist agent, Taylor has represented singers for the New York firm ADA Artist Management.

A trained baritone with a decade of performing experience and over thirty roles to his credit, Taylor previously worked as General Director for the Berkshire Opera Company and Co-Founder of the Southeastern Festival of Song. His producing partners have included the Atlanta Ballet, Atlanta Boys’ Choir, Bar Harbor Music Festival, Barrington Stage Company, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, Dallas Museum of Art, The Emily Dickinson Museum, The Phillips Collection, Shakespeare Dallas and Wolf Trap Foundation. He has presented over thirty unique programs of recital, concert, oratorio, ballet and opera. As a guest lecturer and educator, he has worked with OPERA America as well as with Emory University, Southern Methodist University, Kentucky Opera Studio Artist Program, Kent State University, Fletcher Opera Institute and Seagle Music Colony, among others.

At Arizona Opera, Taylor will lead the administration of the artistic department working closely with General Director Scott Altman in matters of programming, casting, future planning and technical assistance.

A graduate of San Diego State University, Riesenberg has directed the marketing departments at some of this country’s leading cultural institutions, including the San Diego Museum of Art, Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Tex., Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland and, most recently, at Phoenix Art Museum.  She has distinguished herself as a passionate and creative marketing professional throughout her career, developing the highly successfulAfter Hours at the Kimbell series and spearheading the complete re-branding of the Walters Art Museum. At Phoenix Art Museum, Riesenbergexpanded the museum’s social media presence, cultivated strong connections with Spanish-language media outlets and was instrumental in developing Art Night Out, a quarterly cocktail party intended to increase the profile of the museum among the gay community.

As Director of Marketing and External Affairs for Arizona Opera, Riesenberg will work to expand the opera company’s audience and to help position the company as a national arts leader as it prepares the construction of a new Opera Center on Central Avenue and McDowell Road, across fromPhoenix Art Museum
