Arizona Opera Adds Fifth Opera to 2013-14 Season In Tucson

Don Pasquale to be Performed in Both Phoenix & Tucson, Thanks to Generous Tucsonans

Arizona Opera’s Interim Director Ryan Taylor announces today that thanks to generous Tucson patronage, Don Pasquale will be performed in Tucson April 26 & 27, 2014.

At the last production of the 2012-13 season, The Marriage of Figaro, Mr. Taylor announced from the stage, that an anonymous donor pledged $25,000 of the $50,000 needed to bring the fifth production of the 2013-14 season, Don Pasquale, to Tucson Music Hall. “Bringing our fifth production of the season to Tucson was an important step for Arizona Opera as we recommit to the city that launched our company. We reached out to our Tucson family and their response has been humbling and gratifying. We are within $5,000 of making our fundraising goal, and we are happy to put tickets on sale for Don Pasquale for subscribers now!” says Taylor.

Due to financial constraints, the previous administration at Arizona Opera originally planned to only present this production in Phoenix. During the spring, many generous Tucson opera patrons donated further funds, and tickets for Don Pasquale will go on sale today, Monday, June 3.

Subscribers and single ticket holders will be pleased to see that the production’s ticket prices will reflect the generosity of the Tucson donors who have helped to fund the production. Additionally, subscribers can purchase additional tickets for friends, family members, and colleagues at their discounted rate before single tickets go on sale later this year.

The upcoming season promises to be exceptional in both Phoenix and Tucson. The company opens the season with the United States premiere of the new critical edition of Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore, followed by The Flying Dutchman, with Mark Delavan, one of the Metropolitan Opera’s reigning Wagnerians, performing the title role. In the spring of 2014, Arizona Opera will present dynamic and fresh young casts in Puccini’s perennial favorite, La Bohème, the southwestern premiere of a vibrant and stylized new production of La Traviata and Don Pasquale with an exuberant cast.
