2025/26 Student Backstage Tours

Student Backstage Tech Theater Tours

Student Backstage Tech Theater Tours give high school students (grades 9–12) a behind-the-scenes look at the world of opera production. Offered in both Phoenix and Tucson during Tech Week for Zorro, Madama Butterfly, and Cinderella (La Cenerentola), these tours provide an exclusive opportunity to explore the backstage workings of an opera.

Led by Arizona Opera’s production department, students will tour key production areas and gain insight into the who, what, where, and why of bringing an opera to life.

Tours last approximately 60 minutes and may include the chance to observe a load-in or lighting focus, depending on scheduling and production department approval. Each tour is limited to 20 participants. Arizona Opera recommends one chaperone for every five students. Tickets are $20 per student, and chaperones attend free of charge.
