Diana Olivares

Diana Olivares is a mezzo soprano from Tucson, AZ performing and teaching a variety of musical genres. The 2019/20 Season saw Diana touring Southern Arizona schools with Arizona Opera Education, singing lead vocals in CBJ Flamenco’s production of “FlaMÉXico!”, playing Lottie in the American debut of Elena Langer’s “Rhhonda Rips It Up!” With UAOpera Theatre, and singing the role of 3rd Medium in Vaugh Williams’s “The Poisoned Kiss” with Passion Project: Opera!

Diana is director and founder of Las Azaleas, a female and Latina led musical group helping to aid in the exposure of Mexican female composers and singers’ music through their performances.

Diana is lead vocalist in CBJ Flamenco’s FlaMÈXico”! and has performed this production at The Fox Theatre in Tucson, AZ and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.

Diana’s first solo EP album “Historia del Abandono” was released in 2018 and can be found on iTunes and Spotify.

Diana’s career as a professional mariachi with Mariachi Sonido de Mexico included providing vocal and mariachi accompaniment to Ana Barbara, Shaila Durcal, and Nydia Rojas; as well as sharing the arena stage with Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan and Mariachi Sol de Mexico.

As a sought after vocal clinician in the mariachi community, Diana has led mariachi voice workshops alongside Rafael Palomar of Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Edwin Origel of Mariachi Nuevo Tecalitlan, and Margarito Alvarado of Mariachi America de Jesus Rodriguez de Hijar.

Diana is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing.
