Local Auditions for Phoenix Touring Education Troupe

AUDITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Arizona Opera announces auditions for Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Tenor, Baritone and Pianist artists for the 2025 Arlyn M. Brewster Phoenix OperaTunity Troupe. This group travels to area schools performing all-school assemblies for elementary aged students. 

 

PRODUCTION INFORMATION

Rehearsal Period, Tour Dates & Schedule:

Rehearsal: Thursday, January 2 – Friday, January 17, 2025 
*50-55 total hours of rehearsal, final schedule will be determined in collaboration with full troupe

Tour Dates: Tuesday, January 21 - Thursday, May 15, 2025

Monday 8-12 PM
Tuesday 8-4 PM
Wednesdays - OFF
Thursday 8-12 PM
Friday 8-12 PM

 

Salary Details:
$1,800 paid in two installments each month

 

Show Summary:
This new adaptation of Humperdinck’s classic opera turns the famous story of the witch and those crafty kids on its head. Narrated by Hansel—all grown up—he explains what actually went on in that fantastical gingerbread house.

Tom Thumb/Witch - Tenor
Pianist
 

Additional Information:
This is a part-time position
No housing or stipend is provided for this position

Audition Date, Time & Venue:
Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 1:30 - 6:30 PM at Arizona Opera Center in Phoenix AZ
Each artist will be scheduled for an 8 minute audition slot
 

Audition Requirements:
Please prepare two pieces, one must be a song or aria in English
You may be asked to sing your second piece
 

Pianist Audition Requirements:
Prepare one art song or aria in any language.
Prepare the provided excerpt from Hansel and Gretel vs. The Witch

Special Note:
Artists auditioning on this date may also elect to audition for Arizona Opera's Opera Ambassador Program and/or for tenor or bass chorus positions in the 2024/25 Season production of Aida.
