Arizona Opera Honored by Zane Grey's West Society

Cece Roeder – June 30, 2017

Arizona Opera is pleased to announce it was the recipient of several awards at the Zane Grey's West Society Annual Convention in Kanab, Utah. These awards are in connection to our 2017 World Premiere of Riders of the Purple Sage, based on Zane Grey's 1912 novel of the same name.

The Zane Grey's West Society works to promote interest in and knowledge of Zane Grey and his works, and preserve the sites of his writings so that future generations may realize the contributions made by Zane Grey toward the development of the adventure story in American literature.

Composer Craig Bohmler and Co-Producer Kristin Atwell Ford were given the Purple Sage award for keeping alive the work and spirit of Zane Grey. The Purple Sage Award is only eligible to be received once in a lifetime, and is one of the Zane Grey's West Society's highest honors. Arizona Opera was awarded the Heritage of the West award for Notable Contributions to the Preservation of the West in both the Past and Present.

We're very proud of Craig, Kristin, and everyone on staff for their hard work and dedication in bringing this production to life.
