Dr. Miriam Schildkret, PN1, mezzo-soprano
Dr. Miriam Schildkret has been an Education Teaching Artist with Arizona Opera since 2017; She has performed Cinderella (Cindererlla), Third Lady/Queen of the Night/Papagena (The Mini-Magic Flute), Hansel (Hansel and Gretel), and The Sea Witch (Rusalka: The Littlest Mermaid). Other favorite roles include Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), Tisbe (La Cenerentola), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), and Kate (Owen Wingrave). Dr. Schildkret has been a lecturer and motivational speaker through Arizona Opera's Virtual Masterclass Workshops since Fall 2020. She is a certified Nutrition Coach, and has spoken with students and adults across the nation about health, performance anxiety, opera history, and other topics. Dr. Schildkret was featured in the Arizona PBS series Desert Canvas, a collection of stories about local artists and their impact on the community, and was also a speaker with TEDx Scottsdale Women.
Andria Fennig, D.M.A., Collaborative Pianist
Andria Fennig received her Doctorate of Musical Arts from Arizona State University in 2002. She has served on the faculties of AZ State University, the University of Hawaii-Manoa, Paradise Valley Community College, and Grand Canyon University. Fennig has a wide and all-encompassing piano performance background including solo performance, collaborative artistry, chamber music, and pit orchestra work for touring Broadway shows and entertainer acts (Book of Mormon, Wicked, Color Purple, Beautiful, Matilda, West Side Story, Jackie Evancho, Chris Mann, Il Divo, and Three Irish Tenors). She regularly appears with the 2-time, Grammy Award winning Phoenix Chorale. An advocate for new music performance, Fennig has performed with the Albuquerque-based LINKS Ensemble, Phoenix-based Crossing 32nd Street Ensemble, and the Arizona State University-based New American Piano Music Ensemble. In 2012, she was a guest artist for an “All John Cage” symposium at Arizona State University, celebrating the life and musical composition of John Cage. Fennig founded and served as the representative for the flute, cello, and piano trio Paradisa!, which performed several chamber concerts throughout the Southwest United States including the annually celebrated Red Rocks Music Festival in Sedona, AZ, and the Abiquiu Music Festival in Abiquiu, NM. She serves as accompanist and Director of Modern Worship Arts at a sizable church community in Paradise Valley. Additionally, she teaches a large body of private piano students in person and virtually in the Phoenix metropolitan area.
