The Coffee @ Kerr series will continue through our 2020/21 Season and feature virtual lectures designed to enhance your understand if the music, themes, and history behind opera. Join us for a free virtual music and lecture series at the Kerr Cultural Center. Each lecture is designed to enhance your understanding of the music, themes, and history of opera.

Opera? Musical? What is the difference? Join Artistic Director of Music, Theatre, and Opera at Arizona State University, Brian DeMaris, as we dive into the Invention of the American Musical. In this presentation we will learn about the history of musical theatre and where it came from, including Operetta, Minstrelsy, Vaudeville, and early Musical Comedy. The presentation will conclude with a live performance from one of the Marion Roose Pullin Arizona Opera Studio Artists.
