Green Valley Madama Butterfly Feast

Your hosts for this Feast of Asian tastes are Fred Fox, Mel Mounts, and Cheri and Russ Smith.  The Feast will be held at Fred’s home. In addition to the fabulous menu, there be entertainment featuring opera soloists who will sing arias from Madame Butterfly and guests will join them in performing the “Humming Chorus” from the opera.  There will also be a traditional Japanese tea ceremony. A night to remember for 14 very lucky guests.  Do not wait to sign up for this Feast—the hosts expect it to be sold out quickly.

Menu

  • You will begin with champagne cocktails. Red and white wines will also be served during the meal.  Appetizers will be favorite dim sum delicacies, including vegetarian, seafood, and non-seafood hors d’oeuvres, plus fresh spring rolls both with and without shrimp.
  • First course at the table- Traditional Asian coconut/chicken soup in lotus bowls served with a crisp dry white wine
  • Entrée- Peking Duck with julienned scallions, julienned tofu strips marinated in a soy/sesame/ginger marinade with rice wrappers and various traditional sauces. The duck will be accompanied by stir-fried baby bok choy and steamed white rice.
  • Dessert- Mountain High Heavenly Mandarin Orange Pie served with chilled lychee fruit. Plum wine and sake will also be available.

Opera Feasts, now in their 9th season, are dinners held in private home themed to the operas of the Arizona Opera season. They are a major fundraiser of the Opera League. Our generous hosts donate all of their expenses so that 100% of the proceeds go to Arizona Opera. We have kept the price at $125 per seat and you get a tax deduction of $75 for every Opera Feast seat you purchase.
