Personal ads meet classical music in 'Craigslistlieder'

"Craigslistlieder" — "lieder" being German for "art songs" — is a set of comic musical settings by American composer Gabriel Kahane. It will be performed by two singers from Arizona Opera on Wednesday, Feb. 18, in a concert dubbed "Craigslistlieder and Other Tasteless Tunes."

Arizona Opera has been working hard to project a more eclectic, youth-friendly image. It is reflected in artistic choices such as the steampunk-inspired costume design for "The Magic Flute" later this month.
