Arts & Entertainment: 2 Local Events Celebrate Leonard Bernstein
Arizona Opera's Candide is featured in News 4 Tuscon for events that celebrate Leonard Bernstein. Candide is Leonard Bernstein’s operetta/musical theater piece based on Voltaire's 18th century novella of the same name. This Tony award-wining Broadway smash is Arizona Opera's company premiere in celebration of Bernstein’s centennial.
"The work represents the culmination-the totality-of who Bernstein was as a composer, combining classical, Broadway, avant-garde and other styles into one large, cohesive work. Ultimately a work of peace, Mass explores the human condition in social and religious terms."
