Arizona Opera will bring back ‘Purple Sage’ and put Frank Lloyd Wright onstage in 2019-20
Coverage of Arizona Opera's 2019/20 Season annoucement. Based on the quintessential Western novel by Zane Grey, “Purple Sage” was written by Scottsdale-based composer Craig Bohmler and librettist Steven Mark Kohn. It premiered in Tucson in February 2017 to strong reviews, and later that year it was broadcast internationally via WFMT Radio Network’s American Opera Radio Series.
Arizona Opera’s first world premiere, 'Riders of the Purple Sage,' was such a success that the company is bringing it back for the 2019-20 season, which it announced on Tuesday along with plans for another brand-new work to premiere in the following season.
