Arizona Opera and Children's Museum of Phoenix Invite Children to Discover MOZART'S THE MAGIC FLUTE
Engaging events, special ticket offers for families Events Kick Off Jan 17

(Phoenix, Arizona)  In anticipation of Mozart's delightful production of The Magic Flute, Arizona Opera and the Children's Museum of Phoenix have partnered to bring families a fun, interactive series of programs to discover Mozart's magical opera, coming to Symphony Hall February 27 thru March 1st.

A perfect introductory opera full of magical melodies, dreamlike characters and mythical woodland creatures, Arizona Opera's The Magic Flute is a new production developed by Metropolitan Opera Stage Director Dan Rigazzi with impressive sets designed by John Pollard and spectacular costumes designed by Leslie Bernstein.  The beloved tale follows Prince Tamino and bird-catcher Papageno on an adventure to rescue Princess Pamina. Set inside the world of Tamino's imagination, the scenic design is filled with allusions to dreams and the idea of nature vs. science.  Inspired by the paintings of Rene Magritte with a nod to Steampunk style, surrealist imagery takes the audience to an exciting place where imagination and reality blend together.

Arizona Opera Education Manager Joshua Borths, singers from the Arizona Opera's Teaching Artists Program, Director of Production Doug Provost and Costume Shop Manager Kathleen Trott will visit the Children's Museum of Phoenix with special demonstrations and programs for kids to learn more about this magical opera.  Schedule of events listed below.

As part of the program, The Children's Museum of Phoenix is offering $2 off admission for these days for families wishing to attend the educational programs.  Following the programs, families can visit the Museum and make it a special day.  Visit www.azopera.org to print off coupon and present at the door to receive $2 off admission.

Arizona Opera is also offering a special The Magic Flute Ticket Package, which includes 50% off tickets for kids/students (under 18 years), Dinner at Cibo Urban Pizzeria, a Commemorative The Magic Flute poster and a free download of The Magic Flute Readers Theater, as performed by students from the Arizona School for the Arts.
