AZO's Candide Makes The Republic's Top 10

Candide premiered on Broadway in 1956. It's getting its first production by Arizona Opera in honor of the late maestro, Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday this August.

Bernstein made his mark in both high art and popular culture. Candide is his operatic masterpiece, a comic work based on Voltaire’s satirical novel about a wide-eyed optimist whose idealism is challenged when he travels the world.
