Bold. Brave. Brilliant.
An Opera by Derrick Wang

Scalia/Ginsburg

Welcome to the Supreme Court chambers as you’ve never seen them before: as the stage for a comedic, high-stakes operatic battle. Derrick Wang’s Scalia/Ginsburg is a witty, moving, and brilliantly composed tribute to two of the most iconic justices in American history.

The opera is based on the real-life, legendary friendship between Justices Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Despite their disagreements on the bench, they enjoyed a decades long friendship with a mutual love for opera, fine dining, and traveling.

A staple for law aficionados and music lovers alike, Scalia/Ginsburg is packed with legal citations and direct quotes from the Justices’ famous opinions, paired with recognizable tunes from the operatic tradition. It’s also a powerful reminder of the importance of civility, celebrating the idea that two people can view the world through completely different lenses yet maintain a profound mutual respect.

The opera’s central premise: “We are different, we are one”.

Don’t miss Scalia/Ginsburg, where the Constitution sings, the gavel drops to a beat, and friendship gets the final word.
