Chorus Auditions for 2026/27 Season

Arizona Opera is pleased to announce auditions for chorus positions in the 2026/27 Season. The Arizona Opera Chorus is comprised of Arizona-based singers living in or around the Phoenix and Tucson areas. Incumbent and core choristers who auditioned last spring are not required to re-audition this year. Those who did not audition last spring or who were on sabbatical during the 2025/26 Season will be expected to audition this year to be considered for chorus positions in the 2026/27 Season.

All incumbent/core choristers must audition to be considered for the following roles:

The Pirates of Penzance

Isabel (Soprano, Solo Bit Role)
Kate (Mezzo, Supporting Role)
Edith (Soprano or Mezzo, Supporting Role)
Samuel (Baritone, Supporting Role)

La Traviata

Marchese D’Obigny (Bass, Supporting Role)
Annina (Soprano, Solo Bit Role)
Giuseppe (Tenor, Chorus Bit Role)
Messenger (Bass, Chorus Bit Role)
Flora’s Servant (Bass, Chorus Bit Role)

The auditions will take place:

Friday, May 22, 2026 from 5 PM to 10 PM
Arizona Opera Center, 1636 N. Central Avenue, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Saturday, May 23, 2026 from 2 PM to 5 PM
Dove of Peace Church, 665 W Roller Coaster Rd, Tucson, AZ 85704

Please prepare two selections for this audition. You will be required to sing one aria or art song in Italian. You may be asked to sing a second aria or art song, in any language of your choosing; an English selection is encouraged.

Those auditioning will be scheduled for an 8-minute slot. A pianist will be provided, however you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. These auditions will also be used for new chorister auditions, so please sign up as soon as possible, especially if you have any schedule limitations on the planned audition dates. The deadline for signing up for an audition is 5 PM on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
