Riders of the Purple Sage Spurs $1 Million Gift to Arizona Opera
Arizona Highways covers the generous donation from longtime patrons Marlu Allan and her husband, Scott Stallard. This gift was in part inspired by the successful World Premiere of Riders of the Purple Sage, featuring visuals designed by iconic Arizona artist Ed Mell.
The couple's gift is one of the largest individual donations the Arizona Opera has received. Stallard told the newspaper he was inspired to donate, in part, because many of those in attendance at Riders were non-opera fans experiencing the art form for the first time.
